Privacy Policy

Last updated July 9, 2026

Koda runs on your Mac. Your projects, chats, and files stay on your computer. We never sell your data and we never look inside your files.

This website

This site counts page views and download clicks using PostHog, without cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser and we cannot tell who you are. There is no other tracking and nothing to sign up for.

The app

Your work lives in folders on your computer. Koda has no account system and no server that stores your work. Three things use the network:

The AI engine. Koda's agent runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, or your own API key. Your messages and the files the agent works with go directly from your Mac to Anthropic or OpenAI, under their terms and privacy policies. Koda is not part of that connection and we never see its contents.

Update checks. The app periodically checks GitHub for new versions. GitHub receives a standard web request from your Mac.

Feedback. If you submit the feedback form, we receive what you wrote and your app version.

Analytics

The app counts which features get used and which errors happen, so we know what to fix. The counts are tied to a random id and never include your files, chats, file names, or project names, so we cannot see your work through them. Nothing is sent until setup shows you the sharing choice, and you can turn it off there or anytime in Settings. Off means nothing is sent at all.

Planned services

Optional paid add-ons for cloud sync and phone access are planned. Anything that syncs will be encrypted on your Mac before it leaves, so our servers cannot read it. We will update this policy when those ship.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
